Uncompressed (MOV)

Exactly what it says — no compression algorithm applied at all. The cleanest possible delivery, at the cost of very large files.

Encoding

Same Display/Scene Linear modes as CineForm, same logic.

Profile

  • Uncompressed 4:2:2 10-bit — default. Standard broadcast-quality uncompressed, no alpha.
  • Uncompressed 4:4:4 10-bit — full chroma resolution, no alpha.
  • Uncompressed 4:4:4:4 Alpha — the only alpha-carrying option in this format — and it's 8-bit specifically, not 10-bit. That's a real ceiling of the format, not a corner cut: no mainstream uncompressed QuickTime alpha flavour above 8-bit exists.

Include Alpha Channel

Only meaningful on the Alpha profile.

Alpha Type

  • Premultiplied — default. RGB is pre-scaled by alpha before writing, matching the convention Nuke, Resolve/Fusion, and Flame assume by default for a generic RGBA file.
  • Straight — RGB keeps its full value regardless of alpha. Use this only if the alpha channel is meant purely as garbage/holdout- matte data for a downstream keyer or mask input, not a displayable beauty-with-alpha image.

See Alpha Channels for the full explanation.
