Viewer¶
Shows the current clip. Five modes, each independently selectable per open viewer:
- Source — the unprocessed clip.
- Active Layer — the composite built up through the currently selected layer: every enabled layer from the bottom of the stack up to and including the one you've selected, nothing above it. Useful for checking a layer's effect in the context of what's already been applied below it, without whatever you haven't gotten to yet in the stack. Selecting the topmost layer makes this identical to Final Output.
- Active Mask — that same selected layer's qualifier mask (matte or tinted, per the Mask tab's View Mask control). This is a true independent mode — one viewer can sit on it while another shows something else entirely.
- ALPHA — the combined per-clip alpha / matte accumulated from every layer whose A+ or A− control is contributing, after the Colour Panel's ALPHA tab post-process. A true independent mode, same as Active Mask. Opening the Colour Panel's ALPHA tab auto-switches the Main viewer here.
- Final Output — the full composite: every enabled layer, top to bottom, regardless of which one is currently selected. When Cut Out is enabled in the Output Panel, this mode previews the composite over the chosen fill colour.
Additional Viewer instances can be spawned as floating windows (View → New Floating Viewer) — each one is independent.
The Main viewer always starts on Active Layer — whatever mode was showing when the app last closed is not remembered/reopened, so a grading session left on Active Mask won't quietly become the default for next time.
The qualifier selection tint is tied directly to viewer mode: switching to Active Mask always shows it, switching to Active Layer/Final Output/Source/ALPHA always hides it — no manual toggle to remember. Opening the Colour Panel's Mask tab auto-switches the Main viewer straight to Active Mask; opening the Alpha tab auto-switches it to ALPHA. When Active Mask is showing a layer with no qualifier defined yet, it shows the plain clip in tinted/overlay style and a pure-white matte in View Mask style.
