Toolbar & Resize Bar

Two rows sit above the main window: the icon shelf (quick access to settings, layouts, panels, and rendering) and, below it, the Resize bar (live editing of the current export's target size and quality).

Icon shelf

Four groups, left to right, with the outer two anchored to the window edges and the middle two floating evenly between them as the window resizes. Every icon shows a short text label underneath it (added 2026-08-20) in addition to the icon itself:

Group Contents
File operations (left-justified) Project Settings
Window management Standard / Compact / Dual / Conversion layout presets
Panel icons Effects, Layers, Color Match, New Viewer, Log Panel, Info, Metadata, Values
Render (right-justified) Render

Not every panel has a shelf icon — Input, Output, Colour, and Add Clips aren't on it (Input/Output/Colour are part of every default layout already; Add Clips is Ctrl+I). All of them are still one click away from the View and File menus, and every panel keeps its own keyboard shortcut regardless of whether it has a shelf icon.

The New Viewer slot on the shelf specifically opens a new floating viewer rather than toggling the docked Main Viewer — if you want to hide/show the docked one, that's still in the View menu (Ctrl+8). Color Match opens the Color Match Panel (Ctrl+Alt+C). Layers is the Layer Stack; Values is the Inspector.

As of 2026-08-17, the shelf's render cluster is down to a single Render button — the separate Render Queue toggle and "Add to Render Queue" (queue-without-running) icons are gone along with the standalone Render Queue panel; see Output Panel.

Icon size is adjustable via View → Toolbar Icon Size (Small, Medium, Large) — see the View menu reference. The window title itself lives in the native macOS title bar, centred by the OS, not in the shelf.

Resize bar

Always visible on its own row below the icon shelf. Live, quick-access editing of the same fields Project Settings' Resize page edits — this bar and that page are two synchronized views into the same project fields, not separate settings.

Field What it does
Preset dropdown Built-in resolution presets (e.g. 1080p HD, 4K master), plus any presets you've saved or that came from a Delivery profile's Resize preset label. Selecting Custom (or editing any field while a named preset is active) shows a modified indicator and a Save menu — save over the original preset, save as a new one, or revert.
Width × Height Target output resolution.
Fill & Crop / Fit How source footage that doesn't match the target aspect ratio gets handled — crop to fill, or letterbox/pillarbox to fit.
FAST / ENHANCED Resize algorithm: FAST is a mathematical kernel (fast, no GPU needed); ENHANCED runs a SPAN AI super-resolution cascade for sharper results at high upscale ratios (GPU recommended, needs the SPAN model installed via Module Manager).
Quality Best / Medium — only shown when ENHANCED is selected.
PAR Pixel aspect ratio (e.g. Square — 1.0 for standard, non-square values for anamorphic).
Filter The resize/resampling filter (e.g. Lanczos).

Every field except Width/Height/Fill & Crop/FAST-ENHANCED shows its own label (Quality:, PAR:, Filter:) directly on the bar, since a bare value like "Best" or "Lanczos" doesn't mean anything out of context — the width/height fields don't need one since the × between them and the RESIZE section label already make their purpose clear.

Frame rate is not on this bar — it's a Format/Encode field, not a Resize one, and lives on Project Settings' Delivery page instead.
